VILLAGE TREK

Mountbatten Lodge is home to a stable of pure-bred Marwari horses.  Reggie Singh’s ancestors, the Rathores were the traditional rulers of the Marwar region and began breeding the Marwari at the beginning of the 12th century. These fine horses have ears that are distinctively curved inwards, making them unique and easily recognizable.

The lush green valley which surrounds the lodge is home to a myriad of birds and wildlife and is ideal for horse riding.  This experience is suitable for enthusiasts and beginners alike.

KUMBHALGARH SANCTUARY HORSE TREK

Duration: 3.5 – 4.0 hours
Cost: Rs 10,000 per guest (minimum 2 people) booking required the day prior.

After an early breakfast, we drive 40 minutes to the historic Kumbalgarh Fort which is perched on one of the highest peaks of the Aravalis, the oldest mountain range in existence. Kumbalgarh has a perimeter wall that extends 36 km, making it the longest continuous wall in the world after the Great Wall of China.

Our horses and escort rider will be waiting for you to commence your four-hour trek through the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to many endangered species like a wolf, leopard, wild boar, hyena, jackal and sloth bear. Exit near the Ranakpur Temples where your car will be waiting to return you to The Lodge in time for lunch.
