Mountbatten Lodge is not a hotel in the conventional sense. It is a seven-suite sanctuary — unhurried, intimate, and wholly singular — set within a rugged valley in the Aravalli Hills of Rajasthan, on the edge of the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary.
Said to bear the name of Lord Mountbatten himself, who is rumoured to have camped in this valley, the Lodge carries a century of story in its stones. Today, under the care of its owners, it remains one of Rajasthan’s most quietly extraordinary addresses — a place where leopard tracks cross the garden path, where ancient Jain temples rise from the forest, and where the only itinerary that matters is the one written by the landscape.
Ideally positioned between Udaipur (approximately two hours by road) and Jodhpur (approximately three hours), the Lodge is both a destination in its own right and the finest stop on any offbeat Rajasthan journey.

The Valley
The Aravalli Hills do not perform for visitors. They simply exist — ancient, uncompromising, and breathtaking. The Lodge sits within a valley where the rock face drops into forest and the forest opens into open sky. Leopards move through these hills. Sloth bears den in the ravines. The jungle here is not a backdrop. It is the experience itself.
The Heritage
Originally a hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Jodhpur, Mountbatten Lodge has been in the same family for over a century. Its name pays tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten — a close friend of the Maharaja and, by popular lore, a man who once camped in this very valley. The lodge has been lovingly restored to reflect the British affinity for wilderness life without ever surrendering its Rajasthani soul — the fireplaces, the open verandahs, the sundowners in the hills, and the sense of being a guest in a private home rather than a room in a hotel.
The Wilderness
Bordered by the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, the Lodge provides a rare base for genuine wildlife encounters in Rajasthan. Leopard safaris, horse treks through jungle trails, bird walks at dawn, and mobile camps set up in the heart of leopard country — these are not curated experiences but the natural extension of a landscape that has been wild for centuries. Two of India's most significant heritage sites — the Ranakpur Jain Temples and the mighty Kumbhalgarh Fort — lie within easy reach, as does the living culture of the Garasia tribe.

Four generously proportioned suites, each opening onto the valley, the gardens, or the ancient tree canopy that frames the Lodge.
