The Grand Marwar Horse Safari
A journey through some of India’s most spectacular landscapes, combining exceptional riding, wildlife encounters and stays in private camps and heritage homes.
Your adventure begins at The Mountbatten Lodge before setting out on horseback across rolling countryside, passing tribal settlements, ancient Persian water wheels and remote villages largely untouched by time.
The ride gradually leads into the dramatic granite wilderness of Jawai. Here, after a day in the saddle, venture into leopard country with experienced trackers before spending the night in an exclusive private camp beneath the stars.
The safari continues through the foothills of the Aravallistowards the historic village of Ghanerao, where you will spend the night at the country home of a senior member of the Jodhpur royal family.
The final day’s ride traverses the magnificent Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary before arriving at the UNESCO-listed Kumbhalgarh Fort, one of India’s greatest military strongholds.

Horse Safari and Leopard Country
Combining the finest riding country in Rajasthan with an exclusive wilderness camp in Jawai, this itinerary is ideal for guests wishing to experience both horse safari and wildlife.
After exploring the magnificent Kumbhalgarh Fort, ride through the forests and valleys of the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary before returning to The Mountbatten Lodge.
The following day, set out on horseback towards Jawai, passing through traditional villages and rural landscapes that have changed little over generations.
Arrive at your private mobile camp in time for afternoon tea before heading out with expert trackers in search of leopards among Jawai’s iconic granite hills.

An ideal introduction to Rajasthan’s extraordinary riding country.
Begin with a relaxing evening at The Mountbatten Lodge before setting off the following morning on horseback towards Jawai. Ride through tribal villages, farmland and open countryside accompanied by experienced guides and beautifully trained Marwari horses.
By late afternoon, transfer to four-wheel-drive vehicles for a leopard safari among Jawai’s dramatic granite hills before returning to your private wilderness camp.
Enjoy a traditional dinner beneath the stars before retiring for the night.
